We have heard from players across Asia that, “we are at our brightest moment right now”, with philanthropic, public and private bodies exploring new forms of organising, coordinating resources and influencing agendas for the common good. Is there applicable knowledge to be gained from different local contexts? How can longer-lasting support structures be built so as not to forget the important role that civil society plays or waste this valuable moment?

There is a growing feeling amongst both donors and civil society organisations that the way we measure impact is only seeing “part of the moon.” Despite a general agreement that networks and infrastructure is vital to social innovation, the ‘how’ is harder to explain than the what and the way (and perhaps as a consequence), as one dine-around participant noted, “nobody wants to fund it”.
